Does my home insurance cover me for accidental damage?

Buildings:
If any of the following get damaged accidentally we'll insure it:

  • Glass
  • Double glazing
  • Other fixed glass

Also, if your bathroom fittings break or get damaged accidentally, or if you damage a mains pipe which your responsibility by mistake, we'll pay to fix the damage.

In addition to the cover provided as standard, we've all at one time or another had a DIY accident, for this type of event we also offer the accidental damage upgrade.

Contents:
Your audio and visual equipment, mirrors and glass will be insured against accidental damage, this includes the following items:

  • Television sets
  • DVD players
  • Home computers
  • Video and DVD recorders and other audio equipment

We will also pay to replace any mirrors, fixed glass in furniture, cooking hobs or oven doors, if they are accidentally damaged. If we can't find an equivalent part we will pay up to £250.

In addition to the cover provided as standard, we've all at one time or another spilt something on the sofa or the carpet, for this type of event we also offer accidental damage upgrade, which includes breakages and spillages plus accidental damage caused by pets, for example if your pet chews your carpet.
