How has the Gender Directive affected insurance?

The Gender Directive means insurers don't take your gender into account when they decide whether to insure you, what your cover may be or what premium to charge.  Since the Gender Directive it is illegal for an insurer to use the information in that way.

Before the Directive, gender was just one of the factors insurers looked at when considering your insurance cover and price.  While gender is no longer used to differentiate cover or price insurers still consider many different factors.  For most customers the Directive has made very little difference to their insurance.
